School Purpose
Jaluit High School Vision, Mission and SLOs have gone through significant revisions since the initial WASC virtual visit and our mid-cycle review.  As indicated in the initial visit report that the established vision, mission and SLOs statements should clearly reflect the beliefs and philosophies of a Boarding Institution. Moreover, these must be reviewed and revised to be more concise to guide the school’s progress.
Mission Statement
“Jaluit High School Family is a community of students, educators, staff, and parents striving to achieve excellence in a supportive learning environment.”
The Mission Statement, capturing the essence of FAMILY that highlights the purpose of the school includes: a clean, safe, and comfortable institution so the students thrive and show high interest in learning and studying; and strengthened partnerships that provide quality education and encourage cooperative and intellectual learning.
Vision Statement
“Jaluit High School Students are competitive, and focused, in a new educational and technological world.”
It is the vision of Jaluit High School Family to provide every students the opportunity to learn, to be challenged, to be creative, and to think globally to provide a strong foundation for further study and/or work in an ever-changing world.
Schoolwide Learner Outcomes (SLOs)
The school purpose is further defined by the established Schoolwide Learner Outcomes. In November 2022, another revision of the SLOs was conducted. The School Leadership Team and in conjunction with Focus Group A wanted to keep the spirit of the previous version, but also wanted to make our SLOs more streamlined, accessible, and relevant to students, teachers, parents, and the school community. Given that many of our stakeholders have English as their second language, we chose to use the acronym F.O.C.U.S to make the current SLOs easy to remember. Graduates of Jaluit High School Family are expected to be:
  • Flexible and adaptable global citizens
  • Open-Minded Persons
  • Creative problem solvers
  • Useful communicators
  • Self-guided Achievers
